Learn More About The Effects Of Drugs
Surprising as it may sound, drugs have not been discovered by the millennials, they have been in existence for a very long time. The use of drugs is not pegged to modern society only. Hallucinogenic mushrooms are among the earliest known drugs in human history. They did not have to be planted as they could be found anywhere. This however does not mean that drugs are good for anybody. It is important to note that drugs were in such high usage then because no scientific studies in relation to the use of drugs had been conducted. In the past, the only known drugs were those that grew naturally, and hence the reason for the different reactions in people who used drugs then and those who use them now.
A lot of things have evolved with the continuous development of science and technology and sadly, one of these things is drugs. A lot of drugs today are engineered in laboratories and then sold to the ignorant population. A lot of chemicals are combined in the manufacture of most of these drugs, thereby making them very dangerous. Most of the things that are added to make modern day drugs affect one’s reasoning and hence the reason for increased drug abuse even when one is well aware of the effects of drugs. This article seeks to educate the reader on the effects of two of the most widely used drugs in the world.
Firstly, let’s take a look at cannabis. This drug is also known as marijuana and is referred to by most millennials as weed. Recent studies on cannabis have shown that it can be used in the treatment of some diseases and hence its legalization in a number of states. It is however important to note that cannabis, just like alcohol numbs one’s central nervous system and hence the reason why most users of this drug are slow in reacting to situations. The long-term effects of cannabis are paranoia and schizophrenia, especially if you start using the drug at an early age.
Another drug we need to look at is cocaine. Cocaine, unlike alcohol and cannabis is a stimulant that gives one a high for some minutes. After the buzz, you will experience a crash and this is when you will crave more of the drug here hence the reason why this drug is one of the most addicting. Cocaine tends to increase one’s heart rate and hence puts its users in danger of having a heart attack or a stroke. Cocaine brings about hallucinations, sleep deprivation, psychosis, loss of appetite and collapse of the septum as it is snorted through the nose.
